Physiotherapy Services
Adult & Paediatric 5-17 y.o. Treatment
Paediatric & Adult Orthopaedic physiotherapy provides assessment and treatment of injuries and conditions that involve the skeleton (bones), muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. All of these structures and tissues are captured and summarized by the term "musculoskeletal"
Virtual Care
Access to treatment from the comfort of your own home, or wherever you need to be! Telerehabilitation involves the use of electronic devices to enable two-way communication between patients and their physiotherapists at different locations for the purpose of diagnosis, therapy, follow-up and/or education. Our telerehabilitation runs through JaneApp, which incorporates network and software security protocols to protect the confidentiality of patient identification and imaging data and will include measures to safeguard the data.
Pelvic Floor Treatment
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a branch of physiotherapy that assesses and treats the pelvic floor, abdomen, deep core and diaphragm. Some issues that might arise when someone is having issues in this area include: urine leakage with urgency, sneezing, coughing and/or jumping; urinary frequency and/or urgency; constipation or inconsistent stool frequency; pelvic organ prolapse; painful intercourse; abdominal weakness; and painful menstruation and ovulation to name a few.
Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Acupuncture and dry needling are techniques we use in conjunction with manual therapy techniques and exercises to increase blood flow, promote tissue healing and reduce pain.
Temporo-mandibular Joint (TMJ)
Pain with chewing or opening the mouth and limited jaw opening are amoung some TMJ conditions often treated at Move Therapeutics. Often times a TMJ dysfunction can go unrecognized and be a leading cause of facial or neck pain, dizziness, headaches or earaches. Our focus is to restore optimal jaw mobility and function to relieve pain and inflammation and reduce muscle spasms.
Sports Injuries
We treat every part of the body through a guided return to sport approach. Whether you suffered your injury a few days or weeks ago, to a few years ago, we will guide you through all phases of rehabilitation and work on management and prevention of injury.
Concussion Management
Concussions are complex pathophysiological processes affecting the brain. They can occur as a result of sporting injuries, falls, motor vehicle accidents, explosions and assault, and in conjunction with other injuries. If left untreated, symptoms could last for months and even years following the incident.
Vestibular Physiotherapy
People with vestibular (inner ear/balance) disorders experience problems with dizziness, light-headedness, vertigo, and visual disturbances and/or imbalances. We treat these conditions by working on eye movements, positional awareness, and neck mobility and strength.
Neurological Treament
Treatment of individuals with function and movement disorders that have originated from problems in the body's nervous and neuromuscular system. We treat individuals after having a stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis to name a few.
Chronic Pain Management
Patients who suffer from chronic pain syndromes need interventions to help rewire the nervous system and change how it interprets incoming and outgoing information, instead of directly treating the original injury. Some treatments include relaxation techniques, imagery and breathing techniques, and self-management strategies.
Balance & Gait Training
People of all ages suffer from balance and walking abnormalities that prevent them from carrying out the activities they love most. Physiotherapy is extremely effective at improving these aspects through strengthening key body stabilizers, improving core function, promoting neutral spinal posture and optimizing reaction time.
Home Exercise Programs
With every injury comes a home exercise program that is individualized. Patients will begin with a program that suits them best in their first treatment, and this program will be progressed according to their improvements moving forward. Patients will be discharged at an appropriate time with the tools they need in order to prevent these injuries from coming back.
